JEDBURGH MAN BRIAN MEINS SENTENCED TO 30 MONTHS FOR CHILD PORN AND BESTIALITY MATERIALS

A man from Jedburgh, Brian Meins, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after being found in possession of over 12,000 images and videos depicting child pornography and acts of bestiality.

One of the videos showed a vulnerable woman engaging in sexual activity with a dog that belonged to Meins.

The 53-year-old resident of Castlegate pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children at his home between May 2015 and November of the previous year.

He also admitted to creating indecent images of minors and owning extreme pornographic material involving sexual activity between humans and animals.

At Jedburgh Sheriff Court, it was heard that police received information indicating Meins possessed indecent images of children.

A search warrant was executed, during which two laptops were recovered from beneath the floorboards of his property.

These devices contained a substantial amount of illegal content.

In total, officers retrieved 12,441 indecent images and 247 videos depicting child abuse and bestiality.

The court was told that Meins has been on remand since his arrest last November.

Sheriff Peter Paterson sentenced him to 30 months in prison and back-dated the sentence to November, when Meins was first remanded in custody in connection with the investigation.
