WORCESTER MAN SENTENCED TO A DECADE FOR RAPE AND ASSAULT
WORCESTER - Despite maintaining his innocence, Brian Enimpah, aged 31 at the time, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison after a jury found him guilty of heinous sexual offenses.
The Worcester Superior Court jury convicted Mr.
Enimpah on charges including aggravated rape, rape, kidnapping, and assault with a dangerous weapon, stemming from separate incidents in August and September 2006 at 108 Grove St.
Both victims, who were working as prostitutes at the time, testified that they did not discuss sex for a fee, and one claimed to have only accompanied him for a ride home.
Judge John S.
McCann sentenced Enimpah to a term of 10 years to 10 years and a day in prison with 15 years of probation to follow.
The court acknowledged the severity of his crimes, with Assistant District Attorney Edward N.
Karcasinas Jr.
recommending an 18-25 year sentence, while Enimpah's lawyer suggested 7-10 years.
During sentencing, Enimpah said, "I forgive the witnesses that misidentified me, that claimed I committed these crimes," though the judge remarked, "I have to stand by the jury's verdict." Enimpah was credited for 914 days he served awaiting trial and sentencing.
The case was widely reported by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
