WREXHAM MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR MURDERING PARTNER, 25
Brian Buckley, a man from Wrexham, has been given a life sentence after being convicted of the murder of his partner, Leah Ingham, in a savage and continuous assault. The 41-year-old attacked Leah by punching her multiple times and head-butting her at least twice, which resulted in her death.
After the incident, Buckley conveyed to a friend via text message that he would not attend work the following day due to what he had done, and also sent a message to Leah’s new partner claiming, 'She is dead kid.' The court was told that the attack happened while their two children were sleeping upstairs, following a disagreement involving drugs and Leah starting a new relationship.
The jury deliberated for less than two hours before reaching a guilty verdict.
Buckley was sentenced to serve at least 22 years in prison.
Leah’s family expressed their heartbreak, stating that their lives would never be the same and they would carry the burden of this terrible crime forever.
The court also heard a victim impact statement from Leah’s mother, Heather Harvey, which criticised Buckley for not admitting responsibility and conveyed the emotional toll.
It was revealed that Buckley sought drugs after the killing and attempted to argue in court that Leah was the aggressor.
An officer involved in the investigation described the crime scene as traumatic and underscored the loss faced by her two children after losing their mother during a violent attack.
