HARTLEPOOL MAN ACCUSED OF FATAL ANIMAL ABUSE AND ASSAULT
Brendan Thomas Oliver, aged 36, is identified as the Hartlepool Animal Abuser.He has been accused of inflicting fatal injuries on a dog, which was subsequently euthanised due to severe damage.
The incident reportedly took place on Harrow Street in Hartlepool on Saturday, August 23.
Cleveland Police confirmed that a dog sustained serious injuries and was euthanised afterward.
Witnesses described that Brendan Thomas Oliver 'inflicted cuts on his own hands and arms with glass and pretended that his dog had attacked him, subsequently stabbing the dog in the head multiple times.' Oliver attempted to claim that the dog did not belong to him.
During a brief court hearing on Bank Holiday Monday, Oliver refused to enter pleas on four charges, including inflicting unnecessary pain on an animal and possession of an offensive weapon.
The case has been directed to the crown court, and Oliver was detained until his next hearing scheduled for September 22.
It is recommended that Brendan Thomas Oliver is not permitted near children or animals.
