GOSPORT MAN JAILED FOR SADISTIC MURDER AND ARSON OF MOTHER-OF-THREE
The individual responsible for the death of Kelly-Anne Case, a mother of three, has been convicted of her murder.Brendan Rowan-Davies, age 29, subjected Kelly-Anne to a period of torture before he slit her throat and set her house on fire on July 30.
The night before her body was found, he attempted to record her while she was with a friend, engaged in sexual activity.
During the proceedings at Winchester Crown Court, it was revealed that Rowan-Davies, who has learning difficulties and relied on an intermediary, claimed to have intervened in an act committed by a 'real killer.' The judge, Mr.
Justice Garnham, described the attack as 'sadistic' and condemned the crime as 'truly dreadful.' Evidence presented during the trial indicated that Rowan-Davies had known Kelly-Anne for some time and had expressed interest in her during a night of drinking and drug use.
Kelly-Anne brushed off his advances and spent the evening with his friend, while Rowan-Davies attempted to record them secretly.
He left but returned the next day, only to be confronted by a knifeman who had already murdered her.
CCTV footage and witness testimony confirmed Rowan-Davies was present in the house during the murder, with her body found tied with cable ties containing his DNA.
The prosecution argued the killing was sexually motivated, with at least eight shallow neck wounds inflicted prior to her strangulation.
Kelly-Anne was described as 'vulnerable and alone' following the placement of her children into social care.
The court highlighted the brutality of the killing, noting Rowan-Davies used the knife not only to cause pain but also to kill her, with the incident being characterized as 'sadistic' and fundamentally heinous.
As the verdict was read, Brendan Rowan-Davies nodded his head in acknowledgment of his guilt.
