DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENDER BRANDON WEST SENTENCED TO SEVEN MONTHS BUT IMMEDIATELY RELEASED
A bully partner identified as Brandon West pushed his girlfriend to the floor and 'showered her in spit' after she asked him to keep the noise down. The court heard West threatened her, warning, 'You stay there you little b****, next time you get up I’ll kill you.' The victim responded in self-defence by biting West's arm.
Later, West’s violent behavior escalated when he spat at a police officer during an emergency response, landing near their face, after officers arrived at her home following her call to 999.
West had a history of previous convictions including affray, possession of a bladed article, and possession of cocaine.
Pleading guilty to charges of common assault against the woman and an emergency worker, West was sentenced to seven months in prison but was immediately released due to time served on remand.
The victim described her experience as "toxic" and expressed ongoing emotional scars, including flashbacks and nightmares.
The court also heard West’s dismissive attitude during police interviews and his volatile temper, which the judge urged him to seek professional help for.
Despite the sentence, West continues to see his child with the victim, and his lawyer mentioned his intention to resume previous employment.
