LIVERPOOL MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT SEX ASSAULT AND 'FOAMING AT THE MOUTH'
A raging “animal” subjected a woman to a violent sexual assault in which he spat in her face and groped her and "foamed at the mouth".Brandon Broome, 20, of Avondale Drive, Widnes, sobbed in the dock as he was sent down at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday after his victim appeared in person to read a statement on the trauma she endured.
Prosecutor Cheryl Mottram told how Broome “screamed at her and spat at her” then forcefully groped the woman over her clothes while he ranted in her face.
When she told him she was going to a police station, he threatened her and kept her detained for around four hours at a property in Widnes.
After saying he would let her go in exchange for a hug, he leaned in and spat in her face - but she was eventually able to escape.
Her impact statement described Broome’s behaviour as highly violent and degrading, with her fearing for her life during the terrifying ordeal.
Judge David Swinnerton sentenced Broome to three years’ detention, noting his previous convictions for criminal damage, assault, harassment, and battery.
A six-year restraining order was also issued.
The judge clarified that Broome would be on the sex offenders’ register for life, with the court also noting his refusal to comment during police interviews and describing his violent outbursts as "like an out-of-control animal." Broome had previously been on a suspended prison sentence but was not in breach at the time of this offence.
The court highlighted that the assault was committed not out of sexual desire but to humiliate and degrade the victim, violating her severely.
