BRANDON BLOICE SHAMES CRIEFF IN PERTH SEX OFFENDER CASE
In January 2019, a significant legal case unfolded involving Brandon Bloice, a 20-year-old man from Crieff, who faced serious repercussions after admitting to a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Perth. The court proceedings revealed the gravity of his actions and imposed strict conditions aimed at monitoring his future conduct.During the hearing, Sheriff William Wood outlined the terms of Bloice’s community payback order, which includes a two-year period of supervision by social workers. A particularly unusual restriction was placed on Bloice: he is required to inform his assigned social worker immediately if he plans to enter into any intimate or domestic relationship. Sheriff Wood clarified that this obligation applies whether he is considering a sexual relationship or cohabitation, whether temporary or permanent. This measure is intended to closely monitor his personal interactions and prevent any further misconduct.
Additionally, Bloice was placed on the sex offenders register for a duration of two years, marking a significant step in his legal consequences. The court also imposed restrictions on his internet usage, forbidding him from using any devices that cannot be examined to verify his online activity. He is prohibited from employing software that could conceal or delete his browsing history, and social workers are granted unrestricted access to check his internet use at any time without prior notice. These conditions aim to prevent any attempts at deception or concealment of inappropriate online behavior.
The case details presented to Perth Sheriff Court indicated that Bloice had committed a sexual assault on a female victim after being told to cease his actions, which he ignored. The incident took place in Perth on February 16, 2017. Although charges related to a second girl and an incident involving a 14-year-old boy—who was allegedly given alcohol—were dropped by the Crown, the primary charge of sexual assault remained. The court heard that Bloice’s conduct was unacceptable and demonstrated a disregard for boundaries and consent.
Sheriff Wood addressed Bloice directly, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions and the importance of behavioral change. He remarked, “You and I have now met on several occasions in relation to this case, and at each hearing, I have learned a little more about you. I have learned of your attitude and approach towards the complainant and what transpired between you. This sort of conduct isn’t acceptable. People are allowed to change their minds, and if that happens, then stop means stop. You didn’t, and that makes you a sexual offender with the consequences of that.”
