JEALOUS THUG HIT EX WITH DOG BOWL IN 7-HOUR ORDEAL, COURT TOLD

A man who was heavily intoxicated violently assaulted his ex-partner, smashing a dog bowl over her and then biting her chin, inflicting injuries and leaving her feeling assaulted like an animal.

The assault extended over seven hours on October 31 last year, beginning when he entered her home near Abingdon without invitation around 5 pm.

During the confrontation, he questioned her about a new romantic interest and accused her of promiscuity.

Prosecutor Cathy Olliver explained to Oxford Crown Court that eventually, she was forced to disclose the name of her new partner, after which he attacked her.

The violent episode, continuing into the early hours of the following day, involved him repeatedly punching her, holding her head in a dog's water bowl to simulate drowning, hitting her with a metal bowl leaving dents, choking her, and kicking her in the kitchen.

She was threatened with broken glass, a broken mop handle, and a knife, the court was told.

Paley also vandalized her home, and according to the victim, he made a sinister promise to disfigure her to prevent others from finding her attractive.

In the early morning, he lay beside her in bed and asphyxiated her until she lost consciousness.

She woke up at around 6 am with him telling her not to report the incident to the police, warning that he would set off fireworks at her door and that he had a vehicle filled with weapons.

In her victim personal statement, she revealed that she is reminded of the attack whenever she sees her dog Rocky’s water bowl, feeling constantly anxious and fearing her own shadow.

She has taken self-defense classes to rebuild confidence after being beaten almost to death.

She sustained a burst eardrum, along with cuts and scratches.

When questioned by police, Paley admitted he had 'completely lost control.' Defense lawyer Peter du Feu stated that Paley deeply regrets his actions and emphasized that she is entirely blameless, acknowledging that she will suffer lifelong consequences, just as he should.

Paley expressed a desire to move to Sheffield after serving his sentence, supported by family members during the trial.

Judge Maria Lamb sentenced him to four years in prison, citing the violence as 'explosive' and fueled by sexual jealousy and alcohol.

She remarked that it was foreseeable she believed her life was in danger during the ordeal.
