BRADLEY DAVIES
A Birmingham man carried out a shocking act of violence fuelled by jealousy and control, targeting his long-term partner and her family in what the court described as a “revenge attack.” Bradley Davies, 26, deliberately drove his van at a group of six people outside a pub, among them his girlfriend and her father.
The violent outburst took place following a children’s party and came after a weekend in which Davies had obsessively bombarded his girlfriend with messages.
The court heard that Davies, who had been in a relationship with the victim for 11 years, had become enraged during an argument at the pub.
He assaulted her father by throwing a drink over him and attempting to strike him with the glass before being removed from the premises.
Driven by humiliation and anger, Davies returned in his transit van and used it as a weapon—intentionally driving at the group, reversing and accelerating in a calculated effort to harm them.
Several people were injured, including one victim who suffered a chipped ankle bone and another with cracked ribs.
Alongside this terrifying incident, Davies also pleaded guilty to a string of other offences, including resisting arrest, racially aggravated criminal damage, and causing public alarm in a separate case.
Sentenced to six years and ten months in prison and banned from driving for more than seven years, Davies was condemned by the judge as “extremely jealous” and intent on inflicting serious harm.
The case stands as a harrowing example of how controlling behaviour and jealousy in intimate relationships can escalate into serious domestic abuse and endanger lives.
