EDINBURGH SPORTS PRESENTER PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC ABUSE CAMPAIGN
An Edinburgh-based sports presenter has admitted to carrying out a severe campaign of domestic abuse against his former partner.Bobby Nwanze, aged 36, engaged in a series of aggressive and controlling behaviors over a four-year period, including making abusive remarks, threatening to damage her car, and monitoring her movements.
Court documents reveal that he seized her arm and pulled her towards him in March 2023, among other incidents at various locations such as his home, Newcraighall primary school, and North High Street in Musselburgh, East Lothian, between April 2019 and March 2023.
Nwanze, known for his work with BBC Scotland and Sky, pleaded guilty to a heavily amended charge under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 during a court appearance in Edinburgh.
The court was told that a detailed narrative of his offenses will be presented at the sentencing.
The sheriff deferred the sentence to allow for a social work report and confirmed that bail conditions including a non-contact order would stay in place until the next hearing.
Nwanze's online profile claims he was a professional footballer scouted by Rangers FC in 1998 and has played for Scotland at youth level.
He also worked as a property assistant and is currently studying Construction and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University.
The story indicates that the court will consider further restrictions, including a potential non-harassment order, during sentencing.
