BLACKBURN PAEDOPHILE BILAAL SAGHIR SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND EXTREME IMAGES
In August 2022, a disturbing case emerged involving Bilaal Saghir, a 29-year-old resident of Providence Street in Blackburn, who was found to have committed serious offenses related to child exploitation and the possession of extreme images.Saghir had been actively involved in storing and sharing highly disturbing and indecent images of children online for several years.
According to the prosecution presented by Amanda Johnson at Preston Crown Court, authorities were alerted in June 2020 to an online account linked to Saghir that was distributing images of child sexual abuse.
The police investigation traced this account back to Saghir’s former residence on Whalley Old Road, leading to a warrant being executed at his home.
During the police visit, officers questioned Saghir about the images, to which he responded ambiguously, saying, “possibly.” Following this, his electronic devices were confiscated and subjected to detailed forensic analysis.
The investigation uncovered a total of 1,527 indecent images of children stored on cloud-based platforms, highlighting the extent of his illegal activities.
Further examination revealed that Saghir possessed a variety of extreme videos, including those involving animals, which added to the severity of his offenses.
Police also discovered multiple folders on his devices with explicit labels such as ‘child porn,’ ‘child porn young teens,’ and ‘child porn video brutal,’ indicating a disturbing collection of illicit material.
In addition to the visual content, authorities accessed a chat conversation on Google Hangouts where Saghir openly discussed his sexual interests.
The messages revealed that he was “into incest” and expressed a preference for “liking young children,” further demonstrating his disturbing inclinations.
Judge Guy Mathieson presided over the case and delivered a stern sentence, citing the “amount, level, and distressing nature” of the images as reasons for his decision.
Saghir was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The judge emphasized the heinous nature of Saghir’s actions, stating, “You delighted in the misery of babies – their physical abuse for your sexual gratification.
You built up a collection of the most distressing images you could find.
Your interest in rape fantasies is horrific.” Judge Mathieson also noted that Saghir claimed his arrest was a relief, implying he believed he could not have stopped his behavior voluntarily, and remarked, “This is something which is part of you.” Prior to sentencing, Saghir had pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent photographs, and possession of an extreme pornographic image.
As part of his sentence, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years and was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order for six years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
