BEN MADDOCKS FROM WREXHAM SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND THREATENING BEHAVIOR
Ben Maddocks, a 39-year-old man with connections to Wrexham, has been handed a seven-month prison sentence following his conviction for domestic abuse against his partner. The incident and subsequent legal proceedings highlight ongoing concerns about domestic violence in the area and the efforts of local law enforcement to address such issues.According to reports from the police, Maddocks, who was previously residing in Ewloe but is now classified as having no fixed abode, appeared before Wrexham Magistrates Court on Monday, October 28th. During the court session, Maddocks admitted to committing a public order offence, which was part of the charges brought against him. The events leading to his arrest and sentencing took place in the early hours of Friday, October 25th, when police officers responded to a distress call from the victim.
The victim reported that Maddocks had been verbally abusive towards her and had physically assaulted her during an incident that occurred inside a taxi. She also disclosed that Maddocks had taken her phone and tablet, subsequently changing her phone’s PIN in an attempt to restrict her access to her own devices. This act of interference with her communication tools was seen as an attempt to control and intimidate her further.
Following her report and considering her history of domestic violence, law enforcement officers visited the address associated with Maddocks. During this visit, they arrested him on suspicion of assault and related offences. It was also revealed that the incident constituted a breach of a previously issued suspended sentence order, which had been set in June 2024. As a result, Maddocks faced additional charges, including threatening behavior intended to instill fear or provoke unlawful violence.
District Inspector Iwan Jones commented on the case, emphasizing the police’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals. He stated, “We are resolute in our determination to pursue individuals who insist on preying on the most vulnerable in our society. This court outcome reflects the hard work of our officers and partner agencies in our ongoing efforts to protect and support victims of domestic violence and violence against women and girls. It can be difficult for victims to speak up after domestic incidents, but I want to reassure everyone that we will thoroughly investigate every report and ensure offenders are brought to justice.”
