BOLTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD ABUSE IMAGE OFFENCES AFTER SENDING HORRIFIC VIDEO
A man named Ben Carey, aged 39, was involved in the distribution and making of child abuse images.
He sent an undercover police officer known as "Pete" a video on February 14 last year showing a child being sexually abused, classified as "Category A," depicting a child around eight years old from Southeast Asia being harmed.
Following this, police executed searches on three different devices and discovered that Carey possessed 62 Category A images, 139 Category B images, and 248 Category C images.
Carey, who resides on Rawson Street, Farnworth, gave no comment during police interviews.
Despite having no prior convictions, he pleaded guilty to distributing an indecent image of a child and three counts of making indecent images of children.
The court was informed that Carey had demonstrated a sexual interest in children, and the evidence indicated that he was involved in serious criminal activity.
His actions were described as displaying a disturbing sexual interest in children, with video and images showing child abuse across multiple devices.
Carey was sentenced to 22 months in prison, which was suspended for 22 months, and was ordered to complete 25 days of rehabilitation activity and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, he was subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years.
