GLASGOW MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEENAGER AFTER MUM'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
A pervert who carried out sex attacks on a sleeping teenager then took him to a McDonalds was jailed today for two-and-a-half years.Barry Donnelly, 41, preyed on the 17-year-old boy who he knew at his home in Glasgow's Penilee on September 12, 2022.
Donnelly initially groped his terrified victim on his bed before performing a sex act on him.
He later took the "broken" boy for fast food before he dropped him off home where he told his father.
Donnelly was unanimously found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court of a single charge of sexually assaulting the boy.
Sheriff Matthew Jackson KC said Donnelly had "abused the trust" put in him by his victim.
He was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and granted a 10-year non-harassment order prohibiting contact with the victim.
The court heard the incident arose following an afterparty for Donnelly's mother's birthday.
Donnelly entered the boy's bed while he was already asleep.
The victim's statement describes how he felt "broken" after the assault, and he described how he broke down in tears when he got home.
Donnelly claimed his innocence, stating that the boy lied and that his DNA was on the victim.
He has previous convictions for theft and a road traffic matter.
The sentence reflects the seriousness and lasting harm caused by the offence.
