BABUR KARAMAT RAJA'S BRUTAL SUTTON COLDFIELD STABBING SHOCKS COMMUNITY
Babur Karamat Raja was found guilty of a savage and unprovoked stabbing attack that took place on the streets of Sutton Coldfield.The court proceedings revealed that the assault was carried out against Natalie Queiroz, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time, in the month of March this year.
The incident left her with severe wounds to her abdomen, but thanks to her quick thinking and medical intervention, she was able to undergo a Caesarean section that successfully delivered a healthy baby girl.
Prior to the attack, Raja was captured on CCTV footage wearing a disguise and carrying a knife tucked into his back pocket.
This footage was crucial in establishing his premeditation and intent.
The assault occurred as Ms.
Queiroz was walking past Trinity Hill Baptist Church, a well-known landmark in Sutton Coldfield.
Witnesses and passers-by who saw the attack attempted to intervene, with five individuals managing to wrestle Raja to the ground.
Despite their efforts, Raja managed to break free from their grasp and made a desperate attempt to slash her throat and wrists.
His violent actions were only halted when police officers, who had been alerted and flagged down a patrol car, arrived at the scene and arrested him.
During the attack, Raja stabbed Ms.
Queiroz with a large carving knife, targeting her chest and stomach.
Remarkably, her breast implants are believed to have played a life-saving role by deflecting the knife, preventing more severe injuries.
It was also revealed that just an hour before the assault, Raja had arranged to meet Ms.
Queiroz at a bank to transfer money, which strongly suggests that the attack was planned rather than impulsive.
Further investigation uncovered that Raja's violent behavior was influenced by ongoing family conflicts.
His mother, who adheres to conservative Muslim beliefs, disapproved of his relationship with Ms.
Queiroz, a white woman, and had threatened to cut off all contact.
This familial tension appeared to have contributed to Raja’s mental state at the time of the attack.
His legal representatives argued that his family issues 'tipped him over the edge,' possibly resulting in a temporary mental health crisis or an 'adjustment disorder.' Raja pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempted murder, attempted child destruction, and possession of a knife in a public place.
He also admitted to assaulting a Good Samaritan who tried to help Ms.
Queiroz during the chaos.
The court sentenced him to 18 years in prison, with an additional four years on license, and he will be subject to parole conditions afterward.

Queiroz and her unborn child, emphasizing that their swift actions likely prevented a murder.
