BIRMINGHAM MAN TRIED TO SEXUALLY GROOM GIRL, 12, AFTER COMING TO UK
A man tried to sexually groom a 12-year-old girl after coming to the UK.
Thangavelu Radhakrishnam targeted the child account while using the Chatiw website before switching to WhatsApp.
The 39-year-old, from Green Lanes, sent explicit messages and links to bestiality videos.
He had travelled to the UK from India in 2022 for better work prospects and lost his £36,000 life savings, as heard in Birmingham Crown Court.
He admitted attempted sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.
On Friday, October 17, he received a two-year suspended sentence.
He used the name 'I am untouched' on Chatiw.
Prosecutor Andrew Jordan described how he continued to speak to the girl, claiming he was a 32-year-old Asian working in Birmingham.
He offered a private massage and suggested he might visit her.
He told her she 'would be sexy when you turn adult' and sent explicit images and videos, also asking about her mother and suggesting having sex with her.
Police found him at his workplace after tracking the device used for contact.
He had no previous convictions.
Radhakrishnam, an engineer, came to the UK in 2022 and lost all his savings.
He was ordered to complete 40 days of rehabilitation, 200 hours of unpaid work, and was subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and £500 costs.
