BIRMINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR 16-YEAR COERCIVE AND PHYSICAL ABUSE
Zeenit Bibi, a 36-year-old woman from Birmingham, was subjected to severe abuse by her husband Aziz Rehman, 47.
Over the course of 16 years, she was kept virtually prisoner in her own home, enduring regular beatings and coercive control.
Rehman would prevent her from seeing her family and friends, and used tactics such as wedging twigs in the front door frame to know if she had gone out.
She revealed that she never spoke out earlier because she believed no one would believe her.
Rehman was brought to justice at Birmingham Crown Court, where he was convicted of assault and coercive control, and subsequently sentenced to prison.
