NIGERIAN MAN WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED TEENAGER SPARED JAIL
Ayomide Famakinde, a 23-year-old man from Thornton Heath, Croydon, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old girl near Bournemouth beach in August 2022.
He approached her late at night, put his hands down her jogging bottoms, and ignored her shouts to stop.
The assault resulted in them falling to the ground, and he continued until his friend pulled him off.
Famakinde was identified and arrested after DNA evidence linked him to the victim.
Despite the gravity of his actions, the judge considered his troubled background and recent maturity and sentenced him to an 18-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work, choosing not to impose jail time calling the offense a 'momentary aberration'.
During the sentencing, the court heard a victim impact statement saying he 'ruined her life' and she 'no longer feels safe walking alone'.
Famakinde, who moved to Britain as a child with his sister and was in the care system, was granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
