ATTILA DOMBI JAILED IN BRACKNELL FOR RAPE OF 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND CHILD SEX OFFENCES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bracknell, Attila Dombi, a man with a troubling criminal history, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving a young girl aged just seven years old.

Attila Dombi, who resides on Saffron Road in Bracknell, was found guilty at Reading Crown Court in June of multiple sex crimes committed against a minor. The court proceedings revealed a series of disturbing details about his actions and prior criminal record, culminating in a severe sentence handed down on Friday, August 8.

Judge Sarah Campbell sentenced Dombi to 18 years in prison, accompanied by an extended license period of five years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the threat he poses to society. During the trial, Dombi admitted to taking three indecent photographs of the young girl and pleaded guilty to possessing two counts of indecent images of children. Despite these admissions, he vehemently denied the more serious charges of rape, assault, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, claiming that the young girl, whose identity is protected by law, was lying.

Following a week-long trial, the jury found Dombi guilty of multiple charges, including causing a child to watch him masturbate, two counts of assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and causing a child to view pornography. The court heard that Dombi's devices contained a disturbing collection of images, with 22 classified as Category A, eight as Category B, and 37 as Category C. The ages of the female children depicted ranged from as young as three to nine years old.

Further police investigations uncovered that Dombi’s devices also contained web searches related to indecent images of children, indicating premeditation and a disturbing interest in child exploitation. The evidence painted a clear picture of a man deeply involved in the possession and distribution of child abuse material.

Adding to the severity of his criminal background, the court revealed that Dombi had previously served a 22-year prison sentence in Spain for attempted murder. In 1994, he was involved in a violent incident in Barcelona where he was driving a stolen car when police stopped him. During the confrontation, Dombi fired three shots from an automatic handgun, hitting an officer and causing serious injuries that required six months of hospitalization. The officer nearly lost his life due to the injuries sustained in the attack.

In delivering his sentence, Judge Campbell expressed her concerns about Dombi’s lack of remorse and ongoing denial of any sexual interest in children. She highlighted the impact on the young girl’s family, noting that her mother reported that the girl still struggles to sleep without a night light, a sign of ongoing trauma. The judge emphasized that Dombi’s continued denial and absence of empathy demonstrated a high risk to children, warranting a lengthy custodial sentence to protect the public.

This case underscores the ongoing issues surrounding child protection and the importance of rigorous law enforcement in bringing such offenders to justice. The community of Bracknell can now hope for some measure of relief, knowing that Dombi will be behind bars for many years to come, unable to harm further innocent children.
