ASHLEY LAMPTEY SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MIDDLESEX AND NORWICH
A 37-year-old man named Ashley Lamptey has been handed a substantial prison sentence of 17 years after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl. The sentencing took place at Norwich Crown Court on Monday, 25 November, following a conviction that was reached earlier in April during a trial held at the same court.During the trial, it was established beyond doubt that Lamptey had committed two counts of rape against a girl under the age of 13, along with two counts of sexual assault involving penetration of a girl under 13. Additionally, he was found guilty of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The court heard that Lamptey’s offending spanned from 2020 to 2021, during which he was residing in Dereham, a town in Norfolk. The first incident reportedly occurred when the victim was only six years old, highlighting the disturbing nature of his crimes.
Details of the investigation revealed that Lamptey’s arrest was prompted after the victim confided in her mother about the abuse she had endured. This disclosure led to a complex and thorough investigation by authorities, ultimately resulting in his charges and subsequent conviction.
In addition to his 17-year prison term, Lamptey was sentenced to an extended five-year period on licence, which is designed to monitor and restrict his activities upon release. Furthermore, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his whereabouts and activities. An indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order has also been imposed, restricting his contact with children and limiting his ability to access certain environments.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Katharine Moore described Lamptey as a dangerous individual who poses a significant threat to public safety, especially to children. The judge emphasized the severe psychological harm inflicted upon the victim, underscoring the gravity of the offences and the need for stringent measures to prevent any future harm.
