SOUTHAMPTON THERAPIST JAILED AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY OF SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST 15 YEAR OLD GIRL
In October 2025, Anthony Agius was convicted of serious charges. The young victim, aged 15, expressed her feelings of revulsion towards his actions.
Agius, 53, operated a medical clinic located on Bitterne Road East in Southampton.
Following a trial held in September, he was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault and was subsequently sentenced to nearly two years in prison on the following Friday.
During the sentencing hearing, prosecutor Andrew Houston read a statement from the girl, who said: "I struggle to sleep and am plagued by nightmares—I see him in my mind’s eye, touching my neck, which makes me wake up crying and screaming.
I’ve lost my appetite and feel nauseous.
I’m disgusted by what he did—I cannot be alone because I fear it might happen again.
The images and messages he sent aren’t something I can forget.
It’s made me uncomfortable even to accept a hug from my father." The court was told that Agius inappropriately touched the girl, who was only 15 when the incidents took place.
Testimony revealed that he fondled her over her clothing; she also described him hitting her on the backside and licking her neck.
On another occasion, she had to beg him to loosen a headlock that was restricting her breathing.
Judge Nicholas Rowland addressed Agius during the sentencing, stating: "You were fully aware that the victim was 15.
Throughout these proceedings, you showed little remorse.
She was particularly vulnerable at the time, and being only 15, she lacked understanding of what was happening and the world around her." Prosecutor Houston also presented Agius’s prior criminal record, which included convictions for ABH in 1994, theft in 1996, and driving while disqualified in 2001; the judge noted these were unrelated to sexual offenses and did not influence the current sentence.
In addition to his imprisonment, Agius, of Allington Lane in Fair Oak, received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and a five-year restraining order preventing contact with the victim.
