ANSAR SADIQ FROM ROCHDALE AND WALSALL JAILED FOR GROOMING AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF UNDERAGE GIRL
In a serious case of child sexual exploitation, Ansar Sadiq, a man originally from Rochdale and now residing in Walsall, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in grooming and engaging in sexual activities with a minor girl.The conviction was handed down at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday, December 5, 2014, marking a significant step in the fight against child abuse in the region.
Born on September 28, 1986, Sadiq was found guilty of multiple charges related to his inappropriate conduct with a young girl under the age of 16.
His current address is listed as Alumwell Road West, Walsall, but his criminal activities were linked to Rochdale, where the offenses took place.
The court sentenced him to 43 months in prison, and he was also subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
Additionally, Sadiq was ordered to register as a sex offender, a legal requirement aimed at monitoring his activities and preventing further offenses.
The case centered around events that unfolded during the summer of 2012.
The victim, who was only 15 years old at the time, met a man she knew as ‘Kash’ through a mutual friend.
It was later established that this man was Ansar Sadiq.
Over the course of six weeks, the victim and two of her friends frequently visited Sadiq’s flat located in Mitchell Hey, Falinge.
During these visits, Sadiq would buy alcohol, specifically vodka, for the girls, which they consumed together.
The girls recounted that Sadiq kept the door of his flat locked, even when he left the premises, leaving the girls inside alone.
This behavior created an environment of control and secrecy, facilitating his grooming process.
On several occasions, the girls would stay overnight at Sadiq’s flat, falsely informing their parents that they were elsewhere.
It was during these nights that Sadiq engaged in penetrative sexual acts with the victim.
These assaults occurred multiple times over the summer holidays, with the girl feeling increasingly trapped and manipulated by Sadiq’s actions.
The court heard detailed accounts of these incidents, which highlighted the predatory nature of Sadiq’s conduct.
Detective Constable Ben Harris, a member of Rochdale’s Sunrise Team—a specialized multi-agency child sexual exploitation unit—commented on the case.
He stated, “Sadiq exhibited all the classic characteristics of someone who grooms young people for sex.
He flattered the victim, bought her alcohol, and allowed her to live a lifestyle that her parents would never have permitted, in order to trick her into letting her guard down.
He was fully aware of her age, knew she was on school holidays, and that she was underage, but he showed no concern for these facts.” DC Harris also praised the bravery of the young girl who came forward, saying, “I would like to commend the bravery of this girl.
Coming forward, disclosing, and reliving the assaults he committed against her must have been extremely difficult.
I hope that this sentence provides some measure of justice and helps her and her family begin to rebuild their lives after such a traumatic experience.”
