MAN FOUND GUILTY OF EXPLOITING AND RAPING VULNERABLE BIRMINGHAM GIRL
Shahban Arif, 42, of Holden Crescent, Walsall, was found guilty of a single exploitation offence. She could only recall Arif by his appearance, stating he had a 'rat-like face'.
He was subsequently designated the nickname 'rat' at trial.
The girl identified three of the defendants by their nicknames, with Nassar called 'Soldier'.
The case involved her being exploited, sexually assaulted, and raped by these four men after being picked up in Birmingham.
The jury convicted the four men following a five-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
Opening the case in November prosecutor Tim Clark KC said: "She was a vulnerable teenager - she was known to social services." The girl had run away from home and got into Arif's car in July 2019.
She alleged he raped her multiple times over the next few days, including in a hotel room full of men who took turns abusing her.
She further claimed Zaffar (a different offender) raped her in a hotel in Walsall in front of a 'baby-faced' man called 'Young Boy', and in a different hotel room with other men Zaffar boasted about her and said she was 'sexually available'.
Her ordeal ended when she was dropped off near Selfridges in Birmingham.
The four men accepted being in her company but denied the offences.
Sentencing was adjourned until March 19 next year.
