COVENTRY WOMAN JAILED FOR 12 YEARS FOR ATTACKING HER SISTER OVER CHRISTMAS DINNER
Annette Slevin, a woman from Coventry, has been jailed for 12 years after attacking her sister with a claw hammer in a brutal assault on Christmas Eve.
The court heard that Slevin, who was on licence for a prior conviction of killing her brother Noel with a mop, launched the attack following a row over their Christmas dinner.
During the assault, she assaulted her sister Carol with a hard-cased flask and then used a claw hammer to hit her on the knees, arms, and hands.
The attack only ceased when other family members arrived and called the police.
Slevin pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The court was informed that she had previously killed her brother Noel in December 2008 by battering him with a mop, for which she was jailed for manslaughter and served seven years before being released on licence.
The judge described the latest attack as 'aggravated' by her previous conviction and her intoxicated state, with the court noting that Slevin had a long history of dishonesty since 1981.
