Anne Green, 25, appeared at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a one-year-old rottweiler puppy that was in her care.
The dog, named Chase, was rescued from her tenth-floor flat at Holme Park Court by RSPCA officers on July 19 last year.
It was found underweight and dehydrated, with no food and stagnant water in a mop bucket, and the balcony window was open, leaving it vulnerable to a fall from the tenth storey.
Green stated she bought the dog from a friend who had since moved.
She was fined £100, ordered to pay a £15 Victim Surcharge, and pay £150 towards the court costs of £835.
She was also banned from keeping animals for five years and cannot appeal against this ban for at least three years.
Chase has been returned to his original owner, Miss Heathcote, and is doing well.
