COURT HEARS MAN ADMITS MANSLAUGHTER IN KILLING GIRLFRIEND AFTER ABORTION REVEAL
Andrew Wilson, aged 28, was charged with the death of Katrina Preece following a violent assault.Court reports described how Wilson's temper flared after Katrina confided to a friend about an abortion she had earlier that week.
He reportedly said, "I was angry that she had not asked me if I wanted to keep it." It was presented in court that Wilson struck Katrina in the mouth, causing her to fall to the ground, then attacked her again, and stamped twice on her head with considerable force.
Her injuries included a shattered skull and a severe traumatic brain injury.
Wilson acknowledged that he wanted to punish her, stating, "I wanted to punish her." The attack took place in the early hours of New Year’s Day, with their five-year-old child sleeping upstairs nearby.
Witnesses testified that Wilson appeared heavily intoxicated and aggressive toward Katrina earlier that evening.
Following the assault, Wilson attempted to leave in Katrina’s car but crashed it nearby.
He then returned to her house, took tablets and vodka, and later walked away.
He was arrested the next morning, initially denying involvement in her death, but later admitted in a letter to his parents while in prison.
Although Wilson denies murder, he has admitted to manslaughter due to lack of intent.
The trial is ongoing.
