GLASGOW MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR MURDERING PARTNER
In a court case, 39-year-old Andrew McKinlay was convicted of the murder of his partner, Josephine Steel, which occurred at a Glasgow flat in October of last year.McKinlay admitted that he had stabbed Ms.
Steel multiple times; her death was caused by wounds to her neck, including her jugular vein and carotid artery.
He stayed in the flat for five days after the assault, buying air freshener and bleach to cover up the smell of her body, before leaving to stay at a friend’s place.
Her body was found weeks later when she did not attend a scheduled medical appointment, prompting police to start an investigation.
An autopsy confirmed she had sustained five stab wounds as well as several other cuts and defensive injuries.
The judge described the killing as a ‘brutal murder,’ and criticized McKinlay’s conduct afterward as ‘callous and shameful,’ highlighting his efforts to conceal her body and deceive those close to her.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 15 years.
The judge highlighted that the murder was driven by a rage fueled by alcohol and drugs, and pointed out the brutality and the disrespect shown to Ms.
Steel through both the attack and subsequent actions.
