AIRLINE PILOT JAILED FOR BRUTAL WIFE MURDER
Andrew McIntosh, aged 54 and employed as an airline pilot, was found guilty of carrying out a brutal assault that resulted in the death of his wife, Patricia McIntosh, who was 56.Court proceedings revealed that he attacked her with a saucepan, causing deadly injuries to her head, amid an argument over the sale price of their property.
The attack took place on 15 November at their former marital residence in Knightcote, Warwickshire.
Judge Andrew Lockhart QC condemned the murder as a 'very violent and callous killing,' noting the severity of the sustained attack, during which her head was repeatedly struck with both weapons and feet.
After the assault, McIntosh exhibited no remorse, pulling down the blinds and leaving the scene.
The court was told that McIntosh admitted to killing his wife but argued diminished responsibility as a defense.
He received a life sentence with a minimum term of 17 years.
During the trial, Mrs.
McIntosh's son, Stephen Clemons, described her as 'the most amazing person' and shared his heartbreak over her loss, calling it 'the ultimate betrayal' by her husband.
The court also noted that McIntosh was on standby to fly for TUI at the time, and the motive was linked to a dispute over the property's sale price, which escalated into a frenzied attack that resulted in her death.
