WEST YORKSHIRE TEACHER CONVICTED OF BRUTAL FIANCÉE MURDER
Andrew Lindo, a 29-year-old music instructor, was convicted of murdering his fiancée, Marie Stewart, in their residence in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, during December. The court proceedings revealed that Lindo inflicted fatal injuries on Marie by strangling her, assaulting her, and stabbing her to death.
He subsequently concealed her body in a suitcase stored in their garage.
Although Lindo admitted to manslaughter, the jury found him guilty of murder following a ten-day trial at Bradford Crown Court.
Prosecutors described the assault as lengthy and savage, recounting how he struck Marie with a children’s chair, covered her face with bubble wrap, and repeatedly stabbed her in the neck, causing her death.
The jury took less than an hour to reach their decision, and Lindo appeared to show little emotional response during sentencing.
It was further disclosed that he continued to reside with the children after the murder, maintaining the illusion that Marie was still alive by posting on her Facebook account and using her phone to communicate.
The court also highlighted that Lindo was leading a double life, engaging in affairs with several women, including Angela Rylance, with whom he spent Christmas at the house amidst the investigation.
The judge announced that the sentencing would take place on the following Wednesday.
