EX-YOUTH WORKER AVOIDS JAIL AFTER VOYEURISM AND PUBLIC INDECENCY CONVICTIONS
Andrew Jessiman, a former youth worker based in Inverness, was convicted of serious sexual offenses including voyeurism and public indecency.
During the trial at Inverness Sheriff Court, it emerged that Jessiman secretly filmed a teenager as she was preparing for bed between September 2017 and September 2019, with police discovering grainy footage on a device in his bedroom.
The victim described the acts as 'disgusting' and 'violating.' Jessiman also exposed himself and performed a sex act in a room with the curtains open and lights on on multiple occasions.
Despite denying the charges throughout the trial, jurors found him guilty after less than two hours of deliberation.
The court sentenced him to a community payback order and ordered him to complete a sex offender program, with additional restrictions such as remaining on the sex offenders register for two years and forfeiting his video camera.
Jessiman will not serve jail time but his actions have led to significant personal and professional consequences, including the loss of his career and reputation.
