MAN CONVICTED OF HISTORIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN WILMSLOW
A man from Wilmslow has been convicted of sexually abusing a minor.Andrew Grierson, aged 64 and residing on McCormack Drive in Wigan, was found guilty on four counts of sexual assault against a girl under 13 and five counts of indecent assault involving a girl under 14.
The verdict was reached after a seven-day trial at Chester Crown Court, which concluded on Thursday, 16 July.
Following the trial, Grierson was remanded into custody and is scheduled for sentencing at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, 6 October.
The court heard evidence that Grierson committed these abuses between 1996 and 2004.
Detective Inspector Claire Miles commented: “This was a complex, lengthy investigation that ultimately revealed Grierson’s reprehensible conduct.
It was clear from the outset that he targeted a vulnerable child to satisfy his own sexual needs.
The impact on the victim has been significant, and I commend her for her bravery and resilience throughout the proceedings.
Reliving these traumatic events in court was undoubtedly difficult, but her powerful testimony ensured that Grierson is now held accountable.
