ANDREW COX FROM ALTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
An individual from the town of Alton, identified as Andrew Cox, is preparing to face sentencing after a vigilant group of paedophile hunters successfully led law enforcement authorities to uncover a disturbing collection of illegal images depicting child sexual abuse.The incident unfolded at Cox’s residence on Vicarage Hill, where the hunters’ online engagement with the 61-year-old suspect ultimately resulted in a police visit to his home.
According to reports presented at Basingstoke Magistrates Court, the paedophile hunter group had tracked Cox through online interactions, which prompted them to visit his property.
Their intervention drew the attention of local police officers, who responded promptly to the scene.
During the subsequent search of Cox’s residence, law enforcement officials discovered a range of illicit images stored on his electronic devices.
Among these, one particular image was classified as especially serious due to its content and nature.
Following the discovery, Andrew Cox was formally charged with four counts of possessing indecent photographs of children.
Additionally, he faced an extra charge for possessing a prohibited image of a child, which is considered a more severe violation under the law.
Cox did not contest the charges; he pleaded guilty to all of them during a court hearing held on Thursday, March 20.
After his admission of guilt, Cox was released on unconditional bail, allowing him to await further legal proceedings.
A pre-sentence report has been ordered to assist the court in determining an appropriate penalty.
The case is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on May 1, where the court will decide on the consequences Cox will face for his actions.
