ANDREW COX FROM ALTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
In March 2025, an incident involving Andrew Cox, a resident of Alton, has brought to light serious allegations related to the possession of illegal images.The case unfolded after a vigilant paedophile hunter group actively tracked down Cox, who was known to be engaging in online activities that raised suspicions.
According to court records from Basingstoke Magistrates Court, the group’s efforts led them directly to Cox’s residence on Vicarage Hill in Alton.
Their covert online engagement with the 61-year-old suspect ultimately prompted a physical visit to his home, which subsequently attracted police attention.
During the police’s subsequent investigation at Cox’s residence, authorities discovered a collection of illicit images stored on his electronic devices.
Among these images, one was classified as particularly severe, indicating a high level of concern regarding the nature of the material found.
Following the discovery, Andrew Cox was formally charged with four counts of possessing indecent photographs of children, along with an additional count related to the possession of a prohibited image of a child.
These charges reflect the gravity of the evidence uncovered during the investigation.
On Thursday, March 20, Cox appeared in court and entered a guilty plea to all charges.
The court proceedings resulted in his being released on unconditional bail, with a pre-sentence report ordered to be prepared.
The case is scheduled for a sentencing hearing set for May 1, where further legal actions and penalties will be determined based on the evidence and circumstances surrounding the case.
