ANDREW BRADBURY SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGER IN BLURTON
In a case that has shocked the community of Blurton, Andrew Bradbury, aged 48, has been handed a significant prison sentence after admitting to a series of serious sexual offences involving a teenage girl.The incident, which took place in Stoke-on-Trent, was brought to light during a court hearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where details of the grooming and abuse were laid bare.
According to court reports, Bradbury, who resides on Emsworth Road in Blurton, engaged in a manipulative and predatory pattern of behaviour towards his young victim.
He initially groomed her, establishing a relationship that was designed to lower her defenses and make her more vulnerable to his advances.
Following this grooming process, he engaged in sexual activity with her, an act that has left the girl deeply traumatised and emotionally scarred.
Furthermore, Bradbury took indecent photographs of the girl, an act that compounded the severity of his crimes.
The prosecution, led by Trevor Meegan, highlighted the lasting impact of these offences on the victim, emphasizing her ongoing trauma and distress.
During the court proceedings, Bradbury pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of sexual activity with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child, and two counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child.
His guilty plea was seen by some as a step towards accountability, but the court also considered the manipulative nature of his actions.
Mark Connor, representing Bradbury, argued that his client’s decision to admit guilt spared the victim the ordeal of testifying in court.
Connor stated, “He has made admissions, he has come clean,” and added that Bradbury was “extremely remorseful” for his actions.
Despite these pleas, Judge Robert Trevor-Jones delivered a stern sentence, imposing an extended term of 10 years in prison, with a custodial period of five years.
The judge also ordered that Bradbury be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and disqualified him from working with children indefinitely.
Additionally, he was subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for a period of 10 years.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Trevor-Jones condemned Bradbury’s manipulative behaviour, stating, “You were manipulative and you groomed her.
I do consider you are a danger.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by predators within communities and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
