WHITEHAVEN MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEENAGE GIRL AT PARTY
A jury convicted Andrew Blythe, 55, of sexually assaulting a "very drunk" 17-year-old girl during a party in Whitehaven in 2021.
Blythe denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was in a relationship with a member of the well-known US dance company the Rockettes and thus had no interest in the teenage victim.
Despite his denial, the court found the evidence sufficient to convict him.
The incident occurred after the girl, feeling unwell and intoxicated, was invited into Blythe's room where he committed the assault.
Blythe's criminal record includes 88 previous offences, mainly dishonesty, with past crimes involving violence.
The judge sentenced Blythe to two years and eight months imprisonment.
He will be on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years, along with an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
