ALEXANDRU LACHE SENTENCED IN KIRKCALDY FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND TRAFFICKING CRIME
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Kirkcaldy, Alexandru Lache has been handed down a prison sentence of three years after being found guilty of serious sexual assault charges.The incident involved the victim, a woman trafficked from Romania, who was coerced into prostitution within the town.
Following his conviction, Lache is set to be deported back to his home country once he completes his time behind bars.
The victim, now in her early twenties, provided her harrowing account through a video link from Spain during the trial proceedings.
She detailed her journey, explaining how she traveled by coach from Romania and was subsequently picked up in England before being driven to Kirkcaldy.
Once there, she was forced into sexual acts with approximately twenty different men in exchange for money.
Her ordeal continued until she managed to contact the police several weeks later, after an attempted rape by Dimitru and another unidentified man.
During the court case, Dimitru was convicted of allowing his flat to be used for habitual prostitution and for assault with intent to rape.
The charges against Lache specifically related to an incident on September 20, 2019, when he was found guilty of assaulting the woman with the intent to rape.
The court heard that Lache had exposed himself to her, restrained her physically, and made inappropriate sexual comments during the attack.
His actions were deemed particularly serious, leading to a sentence of three years in prison and an order to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
Furthermore, the court confirmed that Lache would face deportation to Romania after serving his sentence.
His solicitor argued that Lache, who had migrated to the UK, had no significant criminal record apart from a previous conviction for shoplifting.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the crimes committed, noting the impact on the victim and the community.
Lache has been in detention since December 2024, reflecting the court’s firm stance on such offenses and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
