ALEXANDER GOODIER FROM BEWDLEY SENTENCED TO EXTENDED JAIL TERM IN WORCESTER COURT
In October 2017, a man formerly from Bewdley, Alexander Goodier, received an extended jail sentence after admitting to serious sexual offences involving minors. Goodier, 29, had a history of offending, including being on licence following his early release from prison for previous sex crimes against under-age girls.Worcester Crown Court heard that Judge Robert Juckes, QC, considered the issue of dangerousness and concluded that Goodier posed a "real risk of harm to children." Prosecutor Jim Dunstan explained that Goodier had been sentenced to three and a half years in April 2015 for sex offences, including engaging in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl. Despite being released early on licence in December 2016, Goodier initially showed willingness to cooperate with a treatment programme, but within months, he "succumbed to temptation," Mr Dunstan stated.
Goodier was bound by strict conditions, such as not contacting girls under 16, avoiding Bewdley, and restrictions on internet use. However, he breached all of these conditions. In July of the same year, he began exchanging indecent images with one girl, and they eventually met and engaged in sex in a field, Mr Dunstan added.
Additionally, Goodier exchanged indecent images with another girl via Snapchat; there was suspicion that he took screenshots to save the images instead of deleting them as required.
Currently residing in Kyreside, Tenbury Wells, Goodier pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. His criminal record includes previous convictions for burglary and possession of a stun gun.
At the time of his arrest, Goodier was with his 20-year-old girlfriend while traveling north on the M6. She told police they decided to leave the area after hearing about the allegations, which had surfaced following a disclosure by one of the girls’ mothers. Goodier admitted to police that he committed the offences because he "craved attention," Dunstan reported.
Judge Juckes emphasized that Goodier currently presents a significant risk to children and therefore imposed an extended sentence. Goodier was sentenced to five years in prison, with an extension increasing the total to eight years. This means he will remain ineligible for parole until two-thirds of his sentence is served and will be on licence until the end of the eight-year term.
Furthermore, Goodier will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and will be required to register as a sex offender until further notice.
