ALEXANDER DAVIES AND SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES IN GOSPORT
Alexander Edward Davies, a resident of Pavilion Way in Gosport, was formally sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, September 15.The court proceedings followed his earlier admission to multiple serious charges, including breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, three counts of creating indecent images of children, distributing such images, and possessing extreme pornography.
The police investigation revealed that Davies was arrested after authorities identified a mobile phone that was actively uploading indecent images of children to the internet.
This device was discovered at a family member’s residence and had been deliberately concealed, indicating an attempt to hide its usage.
The police confirmed that the use of this device and the associated online activity constituted a clear violation of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order previously imposed on Davies.
Investigating officer PC Gemma Southcott emphasized the gravity of the breaches, stating, “Whilst these were not contact offences, the breaches of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order are very serious and I am pleased that Davies’ sentence reflects this.” She further explained the importance of rigorous monitoring and enforcement, highlighting the police’s commitment to public safety.
Southcott elaborated on the police’s approach, noting that officers often conduct unannounced visits to offenders subject to such orders.
These visits may include intrusive investigative interviews designed to understand the offender’s routines, interests, and behaviors.
Such measures are crucial for maintaining close surveillance and ensuring compliance with legal restrictions.
Additionally, digital devices are examined to verify adherence to the conditions set by the court.
These orders are specifically implemented to protect the community from potential re-offending by sex offenders.
The police underscored that failure to comply with these orders, as demonstrated in Davies’ case, can result in the offender being returned to prison.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement in Gosport and the wider Portsmouth area to combat child exploitation and ensure that individuals who pose a risk are held accountable and kept away from the public eye.
