RICHMOND PAEDOPHILE ALAN WHITE SENTENCED AGAIN FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN TEESSIDE
In a disturbing case that highlights ongoing concerns about online child exploitation, Alan White, a 58-year-old man from Richmond, has been sentenced to serve two years and four months in prison after being convicted of serious offences involving the solicitation of a minor for sexual purposes. The court proceedings took place at Teesside Crown Court, where White’s actions were laid bare, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior that has persisted despite previous convictions and interventions.White’s latest offences stem from incidents that occurred between December 14 of the previous year and January 15 of this year. The case was brought to light after White engaged in online conversations with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl named Sophie. The interaction began on a chatroom, where White initially communicated with the user, who immediately disclosed her age. Despite this, White continued to pursue the conversation, eventually requesting to move the dialogue to WhatsApp, a more private messaging platform.
During these exchanges, White made inappropriate and sexually explicit comments, describing his desire to kiss and touch the girl. He went further by asking her to remove her clothes, touch herself, and describe her feelings, even after she told him it was painful. White also solicited explicit images, promising he would delete them afterward. The court was shown audio messages from White, including graphic descriptions of what he wanted to do to the girl, and in one instance, it appeared he was masturbating while sending a message.
White pleaded guilty to two charges: attempting to communicate with a girl under 16 for sexual gratification and inciting a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity. His legal team submitted a letter to the court, claiming that White was genuinely remorseful and that he understood what he needed to do to prevent such offenses in the future. However, the judge, Howard Crowson, was skeptical of these claims. He stated that he did not believe White’s assertion that he was engaging with Sophie out of sympathy, and he dismissed White’s claim of a lack of sexual attraction to children as “wholly implausible.”
Judge Crowson emphasized that White’s apparent lack of genuine remorse was concerning, noting that the defendant seemed to have no true shame. The judge also highlighted the risk White posed to children, particularly adolescent females, and imposed a sexual harm prevention order as part of the sentence.
It was also revealed that these offences occurred shortly after White had served a suspended sentence for similar crimes. In November 2018, White appeared at Middlesbrough court after being caught in an online sting by a paedophile hunting group called Keeping Kids Safe. The group, which posed as a minor, confronted White at his home, leading to his arrest. He was subsequently sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, for a range of sex offences, including sexual communication with a child and possession of indecent images of minors. White was also ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was subject to a decade-long sexual harm prevention order.
White’s history of offending underscores a troubling pattern of predatory behavior. Despite previous convictions and interventions, he continued to seek out minors online for sexual purposes. His latest actions have resulted in a significant custodial sentence, reflecting the seriousness with which the court views such offences and the ongoing threat posed by individuals like White to vulnerable children and teenagers.
