METHIL MAN WHO DRANK THREE BOTTLES OF WINE BEFORE HARASSMENT GETS COURT ORDER
A man from Methil consumed three bottles of wine before driving to his ex-partner’s workplace early in the morning to harass her.Alan Jack and the woman had been separated for three years following an eight-year relationship that had ended.
Despite admitting to threatening or abusive actions and refusing to provide a urine sample while suspected of drink-driving, Jack was sentenced to a three-year non-harassment order and a driving ban.
From the dock at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, he declared he would never give up contacting the woman, to which he blurted out he would "never."On September 29, this year, at 5:45 am, Jack’s victim left her home with a colleague to drive to work in Methil.
When they arrived, they noticed Jack in his BMW pulling up beside them, shouting threats such as “You’re f***ing dead” and “you’re a f***ing slag,” leaving the woman terrified, prompting her to leave work immediately.
Jack was later seen unsteady on his feet near his home, and police took him to Kirkcaldy police station.
There, he refused to give a urine sample, claiming, “Why should I help you, you won’t help me?
I’m going to jail anyway.”Sheriff James Williamson commented on Jack’s persistent behavior, noting, “It’s a bit odd, isn’t it?
The relationship’s been over for three years.
When’s he ever going to give up?” Jack responded from the dock, “Never.” His solicitor stated that Jack accepts that the relationship is over, has a good job, and hopes to avoid prison, mentioning the recent bereavements that increased his stress.
Jack has a previous conviction for drink-driving but was not prosecuted for driving without a license.
The court sentenced him to 180 hours of unpaid work in a year and supervised him during that period.
Additionally, Jack was ordered to have no contact with his victim for three years.
