ALAN BASKERVILLE SENTENCED TO 23 YEARS IN PRISON FOR HISTORICAL CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN ROCHFORD
In March 2014, Alan Baskerville-Mansell, a 59-year-old mechanic from Sutton Road, Rochford, was sentenced to 23 years in prison after being convicted of multiple historic sexual offences against two children.The sentencing took place at Isleworth Crown Court following his conviction last month on 13 counts of sexual misconduct dating back to the 1960s.
The court heard that Baskerville-Mansell, who lived in Uxbridge from 1968 to 1973, had assaulted a girl starting when she was 11 years old, continuing until she was 16.
His abusive acts against her occurred when he was between 14 and 19 years old.
Another victim, a boy aged between six and 11, was attacked at various addresses in East Sussex and Essex, specifically in Eastbourne and Canvey Island, during the early 1980s.
Both victims reported their abuse in 2012, leading to a police investigation.
Baskerville-Mansell was subsequently arrested at his home on August 9, 2012, and charged nearly a year later on July 8, 2013, with 13 offences.
Detective Constable Helen Ider, from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, commented: “I hope that the sentence handed down today will reassure the public that the Met takes the investigation of child abuse and sexual offences very seriously.
I would encourage anyone who suffered sexual abuse as a child or adult, regardless of how long ago that was, to come forward and speak to us.”
