A man working as a police officer in Wiltshire was convicted for repeatedly raping a woman.
Nicholas Peel, who was a constable with Thames Valley Police, committed numerous sexual assaults on his victim between 2015 and 2020.
On 2 March, Salisbury Crown Court sentenced the 55-year-old to prison after finding him guilty of four counts of rape and one of attempted rape.
All the offences involved the same woman and occurred in Wiltshire during Peel’s off-duty time, with no connection to his police duties.
Peel, formerly of West Overton near Marlborough and currently residing at The Street, West Hougham in Kent, faces sentencing on 13 April.
He had retired from the force in December 2024, amid a gross misconduct investigation.
A subsequent disciplinary hearing in March 2025 confirmed multiple allegations related to the improper use of police communication and IT resources.
During that time, Peel had used his police radio to eavesdrop on other law enforcement channels while under a final written warning for a different matter.
He also accessed police footage, changed records, and used excessive amounts of data on his work phone while on sick leave, exceeding allowed limits.
It was concluded that, had he not retired, Peel would have been dismissed from his position because of his misconduct.
