BARNSLEY MAN JAILED FOR STABBING EX-GIRLFRIEND IN DOMESTIC ROW
A jealous ex who stabbed his former girlfriend in the arm cried in court as he was told he may have a second chance with her upon his release from prison.Akos Marton, aged 26, plunged a knife into his partner during an argument at her house on August 15 of the previous year.
The court heard that Marton, of Sheffield Road, Barnsley, admitted one charge of wounding and was subsequently sentenced to one year in prison, meaning he would be released having already served the necessary time.
During the hearing, Marton appeared via video link and tearfully expressed his feelings, revealing that he still loved his ex.
The judge, Michael Slater, stated that Marton would be released very soon and warned him to treat his ex with respect and avoid being overwhelmed by his feelings again, emphasizing the importance of respectful communication.
The ex-girlfriend, however, expressed her desire not to have a restraining order imposed and wished to speak with Marton about their future.
The judge confirmed that the length of Marton's release would be up to the prison authorities, but it was expected that he would be out soon.
The court proceedings highlighted the emotional and legal repercussions of the incident, with Marton crying during the hearing and the victim choosing not to pursue further restrictions against him.
