ADEYINKA AJOSE SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN CROYDON FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Croydon community, Adeyinka Oluwaseyi Ajose, aged 64, was handed down an 18-year prison sentence after admitting to a series of heinous sexual offences involving a young girl.The sentencing took place on Thursday, 17 June, at Croydon Crown Court, where the court heard detailed accounts of Ajose's criminal conduct.
Ajose faced multiple charges, including four counts of raping a female child under the age of 13, one count of sexual assault against a girl under 13, and an additional charge of assault and ill-treatment of a child.
The defendant had previously pleaded guilty to these offences during a court hearing on Thursday, 29 April, which paved the way for the sentencing.
The case was brought to light following a police response to a residential address in Addington, Croydon, on the evening of 10 November 2020.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 21:13 hours and immediately engaged with the victim, who disclosed that she had been subjected to multiple instances of sexual abuse by Ajose over a period of several months.
The victim, who was under 13 years old at the time, was known to Ajose, adding a layer of betrayal and concern for the community.
Following the victim’s account, an investigation was swiftly launched.
Law enforcement officers tracked down Ajose the very next day, arresting him at around 21:20 hours near the victim’s residence.
The case drew significant attention due to the serious nature of the offences and the breach of trust involved.
Ajose’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and the relentless pursuit of justice in cases of sexual abuse.
