‘I’LL KICK THE BABY OUT YOUR TUMMY’ — ABERFELDY MAN ON DOMESTIC ABUSE AND DOG PUNCH CHARGE TRIAL

An “abusive” Aberfeldy man is standing trial charged with a string of violent offences, including punching a dog so hard it collapsed.

Jurors in Perth heard evidence from Adam Weir’s former partner, who described how he became enraged upon learning she was pregnant, holding her against the wall by her neck in the kitchen.

She also alleged Weir said: “We’re too young to have a baby.

I’ll f***ing kick the baby out your tummy.” She fled to her parents’ home near Edinburgh during her pregnancy.

Weir denies assaulting and injuring her and threatening violence towards her unborn child in Churchill Court, Aberfeldy, in 2008, and a 2011 or 2012 incident of slapping her while she was holding a child.

The relationship lasted 16 years, ending in June last year, amid allegations that he punched their dog Scruff at Aberfeldy Golf Club after the dog knocked over a toddler.

The woman said Weir reacted violently, punching the dog so hard it collapsed.

He is also accused of calling a small girl a “twisted c***” last June, attempting to drag a schoolboy down a staircase, and striking him in 2019.

Overall, Weir faces ten charges, all of which he denies, including acting in a manner likely to cause fear or alarm, making threats, and controlling his ex-partner’s access to money and social contact.

The trial at Perth Sheriff Court, before Sheriff Euan Duthie, continues.
