The case unraveled after Simmons' former partner, Louisa Lanza, also 27, took proactive steps to expose his illicit activities by creating a fake Snapchat profile to lure him into revealing his true intentions.

Louisa Lanza, who had previously been in a relationship with Simmons, grew increasingly suspicious of his actions when she noticed he was secretive about his phone. Her suspicions were confirmed when she discovered that Simmons had been sending sexual messages to underage girls. Despite her efforts to alert the authorities at that time, no immediate action was taken by the police, allowing Simmons to continue his inappropriate conduct.

The turning point in the case came when Lanza decided to set up a fake Snapchat account, adopting the persona of a 12-year-old girl named Anya. She initiated contact with Simmons through this profile, which listed the age as 12, in an attempt to catch him in the act. Simmons, believing he was communicating with a minor, responded to the profile, claiming he was 17 years old. He then proceeded to ask Anya for sexual activity and begged her to send explicit images, revealing his intentions clearly.

O’Higgins explained that Simmons identified himself as Adam, claimed to be 17, and asked Anya if they could have sex. He also requested that she touch herself and send pictures so he could verify her actions. Simmons’ behavior was deemed highly inappropriate and predatory. The police seized his laptop and phone during his arrest, uncovering a trove of sexually explicit conversations with multiple young girls. These included discussions about oral sex with two girls aged 12 and 13 from America, as well as a request to a 15-year-old Swedish girl to have items available so she could penetrate herself.
