2012; STOURBRIDGE MAN JAILED FOR ATTACKING HIS MOTHER
A STOURBRIDGE man with a catalogue of convictions has been jailed after he admitted attacking his own mother.Judge Amjad Nawaz told Hirons the nurses were vulnerable and they had to be protected because they were providing a "valued public service." The injury he caused to his mother Cheryl was serious but it was accepted that when he shoved her in the back he had no intentions of causing her any real harm.
Joanne Barker, prosecuting, said Hirons and his mother sold a number of videos at Cash Converters in Stourbridge and they used the money to buy cans of lager.
They were walking in the town when Hirons, for no apparent reason, struck her in the back and she fell to the floor snapping her wrist.
The mother was taken to hospital and was detained for five days for treatment.
When questioned by police after his arrest Hirons told officers she had not been "very kind to him." Hirons who had a long criminal record admitted wounding, two charges of sexual assault and another of criminal damage.
The judge ruled only immediate custody for was appropriate for his crimes and jailed Hirons for 12 months.
Mrs Barker said Hirons had 25 previous convictions for a total of 39 offences including violence, criminal damage and sexual assault.
Richard Dewsberry, for Hirons, told Wolverhampton Crown Court his client had a number of problems involving drug abuse, alcohol misuse together with medical troubles and he had led a "chaotic lifestyle." He said he accepted the attack on his mother was "deeply unpleasant" and he was determined not to cause her any further problems in the future.
The judge said Hirons would also have to register as a Sex Offender for the next seven years and made him the subject of a restraining order forbidding him from having any contact with his mother.
