In Eastbourne, authorities have charged two men following allegations of sexual assault involving a young girl.The girl, 14 years old, is now under the care of specialist officers who are providing support.
The police report indicates the incident took place at a local residence sometime between 2:30 am and 7:00 am on Saturday, 23 May.
An investigation led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man on 25 May.
After further investigations, a second suspect, aged 40, was detained on 27 May.
Miguel Dasilva, who is from Longland Road in Eastbourne and is of Portuguese nationality, faces charges including three counts of sexual penetration with a girl aged 13-15, non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl in the same age bracket, and sexual communication with a minor.
He made an appearance at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 27 May.
Meanwhile, Adam Hendrick, aged 40 and from Walton Close, Eastbourne, has been charged with raping a girl aged 13-15 and four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual acts with a girl of that age.
He appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 28 May.
Both accused have been remanded into custody and are expected to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 24 June.
Detective Inspector Steve Shimmons stated that addressing violence against women and girls remains a key priority for Sussex Police, which has acted swiftly from the initial report to arrest the suspects.
He also affirmed the police’s commitment to providing ongoing support to the victim through specialist services as the case proceeds.
