WIGAN JOINER ADAM CLOSSICK SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN HINDLEY
A man from Wigan, identified as Adam Clossick, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of raping a woman while she was asleep.The incident took place in Hindley, where Clossick, aged 27 and residing on Hereford Road in Hindley, had been allowed to stay on the victim’s settee following a night out with friends.
According to reports, Clossick told the woman that he had nowhere else to go due to a disagreement with his partner, which led to him sleeping in her home.
During the trial at Manchester Crown Court, the court heard that on the night of January 9, 2022, Clossick entered the woman’s bedroom while she was sleeping.
The woman, who cannot be publicly named for legal reasons, awoke the next morning to find Clossick in her bed.
Her clothing was found to be disturbed, which raised immediate concerns about her safety and well-being.
Fearing that she had been sexually assaulted, the woman confided in her family.
Her mother subsequently reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation.
The woman was taken to a specialized rape clinic for examination, where forensic samples were collected.
These samples confirmed the presence of Clossick’s DNA, leading to his arrest on suspicion of rape.
Initially, Clossick refused to comment on the allegations.
However, once the forensic evidence was presented, he claimed that the sexual activity was consensual.
This assertion formed the basis of his defense throughout the five-day trial.
Despite his claims, the jury deliberated for only 90 minutes before reaching a unanimous guilty verdict.
Following the conviction, Clossick appeared in court for sentencing.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Additionally, he was subjected to an indefinite restraining order that prohibits any form of contact with the victim, ensuring her safety and preventing further harm.
